01About this project

This project includes the planning, design and delivery of the expansion of the active transportation network in the redeveloping area of the city (areas bounded by Anthony Henday Drive). The expansion of the city's active transportation network with safe, comfortable and connected routes will provide a wider range of mobility options for Edmontonians, support reaching the goal in The City Plan of 50 percent of trips being made by transit and active transportation, and support the City's energy transition goals. Most connections are expected to be advanced using adaptable infrastructure similar to the downtown bike network. Permanent infrastructure will be considered where feasible. The project includes supporting infrastructure including wayfinding signage and end-of-trip facilities such as bike parking. Update: Planning and design work for the 2026 routes are now complete. Construction of the 2026 routes is underway for some of the 2026 routes with others set to begin over the coming weeks. The most up to date route information is available in the data table on the project web page at edmonton.ca/ActiveTransportation. Location: Redeveloping area

02How to get on the bid list

Big projects are not usually tendered trade by trade in public. The owner hires a general contractor or construction manager, who then prequalifies trades and sends out packages. Getting on that list early is how you get the call.

  1. Find out who the general contractor or construction manager is.
  2. Prequalify on their trade-partner portal (insurance, safety record, references).
  3. Ask when the packages for your trade go out, and to be on the invite list.
