01About this project

Beacon Heights has been chosen for Neighbourhood Renewal. Neighbourhood Renewal rehabilitates residential roads, replaces street lights, improves how people walk, bike and drive in the neighbourhood, and explores how they enjoy City-owned parks and open spaces. Some of the business alleys between 118 Avenue and 119 Avenue will also be renewed. Alley Renewal involves alley reconstruction and repaving, improvements to surface drainage where possible, and upgrading existing alley lighting to LED fixtures. A series of public events will be scheduled by the project team which will give residents the opportunity to build a project Vision and Guiding Principles together and provide regular feedback on the different stages of the project including design. Cost sharing opportunities will be made available through the local improvement process for sidewalk reconstruction and decorative street light upgrades in the neighbourhood. Arterial roads are not included in the scope of work. Further project information can be found at edmonton.ca/BuildingBeaconHeights. Update: Beacon Heights has been chosen for Neighbourhood Renewal. Planning and design is currently underway. Visit edmonton.ca/buildingBeaconHeights for more information. Location: Beacon Heights

02How to get on the bid list

Big projects are not usually tendered trade by trade in public. The owner hires a general contractor or construction manager, who then prequalifies trades and sends out packages. Getting on that list early is how you get the call.

  1. Find out who the general contractor or construction manager is.
  2. Prequalify on their trade-partner portal (insurance, safety record, references).
  3. Ask when the packages for your trade go out, and to be on the invite list.
