01About this project
The Metro Line Northwest (Phase 2) project is a 4.2 km LRT extension from Blatchford to Castle Downs. It will include an LRT crossing of Yellowhead Trail and CN Walker Yard immediately north of the Blatchford development and 4 new LRT Stations. LRT will travel along 113A Street and Castle Downs Road, turning west onto 153 Avenue and terminating at the relocated Castle Downs Transit Centre in the northwest corner of the intersection. This project currently involves design reviews and land acquisition (City Council approved $20 million for land acquisition in the 2023-2026 capital budget). Update: Land requirements and access management reviews are ongoing. Outreach to impacted property owners is underway and will continue through 2026. Ongoing coordination with interface projects.

02How to get on the bid list
Big projects are not usually tendered trade by trade in public. The owner hires a general contractor or construction manager, who then prequalifies trades and sends out packages. Getting on that list early is how you get the call.
- Find out who the general contractor or construction manager is.
- Prequalify on their trade-partner portal (insurance, safety record, references).
- Ask when the packages for your trade go out, and to be on the invite list.
