01About this project
This project involves the replacement of the existing ice plant and the construction of a separate ice plant room in the arena. This replacement is necessary to meet current federal environmental standards. The ice plant is currently located in the same space as other operational equipment, including the ice resurfacer. Separating the ice plant from this equipment will ensure the health and safety of arena operations and maintenance staff. Update: The Michael Cameron Ice Plant Replacement: Detailed design is 100% complete. The tender has been extended to July 9. The project has fallen off of the baseline plan, with the overall project now scheduled to start the ice plant addition in spring 2027 which may impact the final date. Location: Capilano (10404 56 St NW)

02How to get on the bid list
Big projects are not usually tendered trade by trade in public. The owner hires a general contractor or construction manager, who then prequalifies trades and sends out packages. Getting on that list early is how you get the call.
- Find out who the general contractor or construction manager is.
- Prequalify on their trade-partner portal (insurance, safety record, references).
- Ask when the packages for your trade go out, and to be on the invite list.
