01About this project
The Downtown Police Station requires repairs and replacements to provide a safe environment for staff and the general public and to meet the needs of citizens. The project includes the renewal of major building components including: mechanical, electrical, roofing as well as architectural and structural systems. Update: Phase 3 construction, which involves the replacement of the Programmable Logic Controller and west parkade ramp replacement, is roughly 72% complete. The project remains on budget but has experienced delays to the baseline schedule, with completion scheduled for Q3 2026. Ongoing work shutdowns continue while all the new systems and equipment are tied in and made functional. Location: 9620-103A Avenue

02How to get on the bid list
Big projects are not usually tendered trade by trade in public. The owner hires a general contractor or construction manager, who then prequalifies trades and sends out packages. Getting on that list early is how you get the call.
- Find out who the general contractor or construction manager is.
- Prequalify on their trade-partner portal (insurance, safety record, references).
- Ask when the packages for your trade go out, and to be on the invite list.
